Active 1
Minoxidil 6%
Opens follicular potassium channels and prolongs the anagen growth phase. Compounded above the OTC strength of 5%.
At 6%, the dose-response benefit over standard 5% is well documented. The trade-off is dryness — which is exactly why we pair it with a moisture-preserving carrier.

- Mechanism
- K+ channel opener

- Decades of RCTs
Active 2
Finasteride 0.25%
Blocks DHT, the hormone responsible for male pattern hair loss. Topical delivery means systemic exposure is a fraction of the oral dose.
Topical finasteride dramatically reduces systemic absorption versus oral finasteride. This is the single biggest reason men hesitate on oral fin and shouldn't on topical.

- 0.25%
- Mechanism
- 5α-reductase inhibitor
- Evidence
- Multiple topical RCTs
Active 3
Tretinoin 0.025%
A retinoid that increases scalp absorption of minoxidil up to 3x, so the formula does more with each dose.
Tretinoin's role here isn't cosmetic. It's an absorption enhancer — keratinizing scalp tissue is reorganized so minoxidil reaches the follicle in higher concentration.

Why compounded
More than one molecule, more than one mechanism.
OTC minoxidil is a single drug at a fixed strength. FoliRx combines three actives at three different mechanisms in one carrier — that's the difference between fighting hair loss with one tool and fighting it with three.
Compounded at a 503A FDA-recognized pharmacy, every formula is built per-prescription. Strengths can be adjusted by your physician. Carriers can be swapped if your scalp is sensitive. That kind of personalization isn't possible with mass-market products.
